The future of distribution

There’s a great article over at Barrett Garese’s (UTA online division, CEO Spytap Industries) personal blog about the past, present, and future of distribution in the entertainment industry. Read it.

The business is changing, with video on demand and DVR and Netflix rendering old distribution models, well, old. People consuming content in new ways (paid and non) and the big players are scrambling to figure out how to monetize the stuff we watch online. It’s undeniably an exciting time to be on the production side of things, as technology empowers today’s independent filmmakers to create truly professional looking content at manageable price points.
